Mayor Tom Leppert congratulates Gold Metal Recyclers at the LamarBQ neighborhood event, November 2010.

In 2010, Gold Metal resurrected and underwrote the Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration at Fair Park for the City of Dallas. After news of insufficient funding, Gold Metal stepped in to make sure that this civic event took place. The event was a proven success with over forty thousand people in attendance and served as a great example of Gold Metal’s loyalty to the city.  Again in July, 2011, Gold Metal sponsored the Fair Park Fourth Fireworks Celebration for the City of Dallas.  Gold Metal is now the title fireworks sponsor for all Fair Park events, including City Arts Festival, Fair Park Fourth, and Fair Park Holiday.

As for other community initiatives, in November, 2010, Gold Metal hosted a neighborhood block party, LamarBQ. Two thousand neighborhood friends and family joined the Gold Metal team, community leaders, and city councilpeople for a celebration of the South Lamar neighborhood.  Games, music, and barbeque, attracted families to participate and witness conceptual plans to rejuvenate the area. This event marked a very special time in Gold Metal’s history, as they celebrated with thousands of their closest and dearest friends with whom they have worked and lived beside for thirty-five years.
